State Sponsored Life Insurance (SSLI) is a term life insurance program designed by Guardsmen for Guardsmen. SSLI is a supplemental program and not designed to replace SGLI. Please visit the National SSLI web site for more detail at SSLI.org.

Coverage Overview

$1,000 No Cost life insurance coverage on each Soldier and Airmen

Coverage available from $10,000 to $260,000 on National Guard members under 50.
Members over 50 can get $10,000 to $110,000.

Coverage available from $5,000 to $155,000 on spouses under 50.
Spouses over 50 can get $5,000 to $60,000.

Coverage available to $5,000 for children

Coverage continues until age 70

Emergency benefits are paid within 24-48 hours of notification. (No death certificate required)

Coverage remains the same and monthly rates do not change when you retire or leave the National Guard. One increase at age 50 and a second and final increase at age 60.

Monthly premiums are payroll deducted.

Provides a $40,000 scholarship fund to a surviving spouse or child of an insured member with $100,000 or more of coverage who dies in a combat zone or as a result of terrorism.

No war, aviation, or, terrorism clauses. There is a two year suicide clause.
